it's a...blog!

12 weeks ago we conceived an exceedingly good idea.  Bringing together our creative chromosomes, this baby blog has given us a time in the week to step back and reflect on life.  Like a parent commits to feeding their newborn at regular intervals, we committed to weekly posts to grow our appreciation of, ya know, intentionally acknowledging the exceedingly good things in life.

Despite moments where we found ourselves doubled over in unproductive fits of laughter about random events of the day, delightful bundles of joy like "A Love Letter to Love Letters" have been born. As we look forward to celebrating milestones in the life of our blog, we invite you to use the comment section below to share some exceedingly good people.ideas.events you'd like for us to gab about.

green {eggs and ham}

Sarah recently discovered my lack of enthusiasm for holidays and, more specifically, my lack of experience celebrating St. Patrick's Day. In attempts to educate and possibly engage me in the festivities, we went on a bit of a St. Patrick's Day scavenger hunt.
See our photos and rendition of a famous St. Patty's Day-esque story!

Do you like St. Patty’s Day?
I do not like St. Patty’s Day.
I do not like it, what’er you say.

Would you like it, then to wear?  Would you like a note to share?
I would not like it then to wear.  I would not like a note to share.

Would you like it, then to eat?  Would you like a tasty treat?
I would not like it then to eat.  I would not like a tasty treat.
I would not like it then to wear.  I would not like a note to share.
I do not like St. Patty’s Day.  I do not like it, what’er you say.

sister, sister

Birthdays are special.  So are sisters.  My big sis turned the big three-oh last week.  While crafting a card, I enjoyed flitting through the many memories we have shared and the many reasons she continues to be so dear to me. Sisters are just unique.  When my sis and I are together we are experiencing new things in real time, but in every present moment we tangibly link arms with all our previous inside jokes, crazy stories and fierce loyalties.  Sisters have and continue to share their exceedingly good goodness with the world.

Here's to you, swig.  xoxo, sister sarah

Pssst:  The lovely whale print adorning the birthday girl's envelope is the handiwork of Valerie, a sweet friend-of-a-friend.

take a bite {out of life}

Today's sunny skies and warm weather cemented the realization that summer is right around the corner.  We celebrated with a trip to the back-from-winter-break opening day at Bobbie's Dairy Dip.  It was an enjoyable and tasty first for Allison. As we scarfed our burgers and shakes, we eagerly talked over other happenings we'd like to share to herald in our dear friend, summer.  Here are just a few ideas:

*double feature at the drive-in
*eating Fleur de Lis snowballs from farmer's market
*overnight trip to a monastery
*picking strawberries (and eating some, too!)
*go on bike rides
*make and (attempt to) fly a kite

The perfect ending to an exceedingly good day...

and the beginning of a promising summer.

save tonight...fight the break of dawn

Every few months, My So Called Band, Nashville's ultimate 90's experience, performs at a downtown music venue. In the last year, we have enjoyed several of their shows (including both an epic Halloween and New Year's performance). After hearing us rave about how the shows were "da bomb", our friends couldn't help but join in.

A Love Letter to Love Letters

Dearest Love Letter,

You’re gone, and I am sad.

I liked you. I liked you a lot.

The anticipation of seeing your folded shape arriving in my mailbox once released a flutter of butterflies into the pit of my stomach. My heart used to swell with joy as I unsealed the envelope, grateful for the messages of love it contained. As my eyes beheld the hasty lettering, I stopped to linger over every word and punctuation mark in attempt to decipher your true intentions.

After sending my reply, I lived in agony whilst I waited for your return. Food had no taste, life lost its luster, and every song that befell my ears was written for our love. Daily actions became meaningless as these motions merely filled the moments until our next rendezvous.

Somewhere along the way, you were replaced with shadows of your former self. Shadows that left me empty handed, with no tangible memento of our love.  Shadows I could only access if my computer was in range of an unsecured wireless network. Shadows that carelessly found their way to my inbox and ended in LOL.

I speak for the masses when I say it is about time for a revival.

A love letter revival.

Xoxo
